Freelancing needs more discipline than your full-time job because it makes you your own boss and that’s fun and tough at the same time.
If you think freelancing is just chilling out from some Airbnb and writing a few lines of code in return for thousands of bucks, you’re wrong.
Prepare yourself
A lot of times when an opportunity presents itself to you, you doubt yourself and all the possibilities of you failing in that situation. That’s not you failing, that’s you letting your fear win. As the famous British entrepreneur has said, “If somebody offers you an amazing opportunity but you are not sure you can do it, say yes — then learn how to do it later!” — Richard Branson This requires a lot of preparation and work, but all you need as the first step is to prepare yourself mentally to find the growth in that opportunity and make a kick-ass landing in the end.Respect everyone’s time
The major thing I have observed in freelancers is they don’t reach a certain height in their career because they don’t respect either their or anyone else’s time. They assume freelancing is easy and people won’t notice their patterns, but that’s completely wrong.
The second most important thing after preparing yourself mentally is to understand and respect your time because that’s how you’re going to make money.
Freelancing community and business are all about respecting each other and their values + time + money = above all here.
Make a routine for yourself and stick to it until it’s a habit.
Be Indispensable
As a first-time freelancer, the market and the talent competition might get overwhelming but don’t worry everyone starts as a newbie, and eventually, you’ll be the rockstar you always wanted to be.
To become indispensable you need to choose a comfortable and stable position in your life by providing a one-of-a-kind service/product of your own, in short, you need to find your niche.
Be Brave
If you’re planning to become a freelancer you need to be brave. Verrry Bravvve! In most people’s cases, the freelance experience is different, because of their country’s understanding and acceptance of freelancing or because of the understanding of their family and friends. But no matter how different it is for you, if you’re brave, you’ll meet people with the same struggles and passion for doing something out of the box.Learn unconditionally
This is one of my favourite points of all time. Learning makes you confident and bold about your domain. It gives you the curiosity to find the next answer you don’t know yet.
Find someone you have been on the same path, and learn from their experience. Learn from everyone’s mistakes, learn from your own mistakes, but never ever stop learning.
